Introducing the Hand Zebra 
The Hand Critters are all very colorful creatures, but none compares to the Hand Zebra with her vibrant stripes, inspired by the familiar and beloved black and white zebra.
Zebras are truly amazing animals. Each one has its own unique stripe pattern, like human fingerprints. For a long times, the actual color of the zebra was a topic of serious debate, but now they are officially black with white stripes.

A fun children’s song from Israel asks “Why does the zebra wear (striped) pajamas?” In the song, the zebra tries on a new garment each day of the week, yet immediately reverts to her striped pajamas. The conclusion is that it’s in the zebra’s nature to wear her stripes, and she just cannot do otherwise.
In reality, the stripes are a defense mechanism, along with the zebra’s strength and speed, and help to protect her from predators. When a lion approaches a big group of zebras, it finds the many moving stripes quite confusing, and thus has a much harder time capturing its prey.
Their other superpowers…
Baby zebras are very strong and agile. Within an hour of being born, they can already run! And if that does not quite fit in with your definition of a superpower, consider this: zebras sleep standing up. One member of the family will stay awake to guard, while the others sleep.
Interestingly, unlike their cousins, the horse and the donkey, zebras are very difficult to domesticate; however, in the old Roman empire they were successfully trained to pull carts for the circus. Back then, they were called hippotigris, or “tiger horse”.

Las Hand Critters son todas muy coloridas, pero ninguna se compara con la Hand Zebra, con sus rayas vibrantes, inspiradas en la conocida y querida cebra de rayas blancas y negras.
Las cebras son animales realmente sorprendentes. Cada una tiene su único y propio patrón de rayas, como las huellas dactilares humanas. Por mucho tiempo, el color real de las cebras era un tema de debate, pero ahora son oficialmente negras con rayas blancas.
¿Por qué las rayas?
En realidad, las rayas son un mecanismo de defensa contra los depredadores, como también lo son la fuerza y la velocidad de las cebras. Cuando un león se acerca a un grupo de cebras, se encuentra con que las rayas en movimiento hacen todo muy confuso, y le es difícil capturar a una cebra en particular como su presa.
Sus otros súper poderes
Las bebé cebras son muy fuertes y ágiles. ¡Dentro de una hora de haber nacido, que ya puede correr! Y si eso no encaja con la definición de un súper poder, considera esto: las cebras duermen de pie. Uno de los miembros de la familia se quedará despierto para vigilar, mientras que los otros duermen.
Curiosamente, a diferencia de sus primos, el caballo y el burro, las cebras son muy difíciles de domesticar, sin embargo, en el antiguo imperio romano fueron entrenadas con éxito para tirar de los carros en el circo romano. En aquel entonces, fueron llamadas hippotigris, o caballo-tigre.
